Next time you have a question for your boss, do the following.
Ask the question, but also answer it as best you can, and give your reasoning.
So, instead of, “Hey Asim, what shall I tell Jake?”
It should be, “Hey Asim, what shall I tell Jake? I suggest we agree to his terms because I feel if we push him any further it’ll just delay things by weeks, possibly months. The last time we made a change it took us 7 weeks to get sign off.”
Look for small ways in which you can add value. And make it a habit.
